Chief Complaint

The squirrel's entire body is limp, its limbs are uncoordinated, it refuses to eat or drink, and its eyes are slightly trembling.

Diagnosis

Cerebral edema compressing the vestibular system, resulting in arrhythmias and heart failure, with a risk of sudden death at any time. The cause of cerebral edema is inflammation in the brain. It is necessary to perform anti-inflammatory treatment combined with laser therapy to reduce edema, relieve pain, and stimulate nerve treatment for vestibular symptoms.

Results

After the first laser therapy, the squirrel became quieter, eye tremors decreased, and it was able to blink on its own.

Discussion

The sensitive nature of squirrels presents certain challenges to treatment. If laser therapy were not used, squirrels would need to undergo medication or even surgical treatment methods, which carries certain risks for small pets.
